    C1 door post mtg.

Mounting the door posts on a '61, the outside screw goes thru a hole located in front of the door near the weatherstrip. what is the best way to fill or cover this hole after mounting the posts? The AIM states to use a filler/compound but wouldn't this present a problem if the need arises to remove the post at a future date? Any recommendations T.U.

    Dennis,

The filler compound that is referred to is a non hardening filler. Duxseal is one brand name that will work in this application. You should be able to find it or other brands at any automotive store that carries body shop material.

Dennis what I do and what the factory appeared to do,is fill the screw hole with the non hardnening sealer within a 1/4" of the top and cover with bonding adhesive. You can then sand and paint the repair after it has cured. The sealer is the same sealer that is used under door access plates, gas tank cover and a host of other locations. I have seen people refer to 3m strip seal which is already formed in srtips, but I usually use GB duct seal from the electrical section at Home Depot. The down side of this seal is that you have to roll out strips by hand. Regards, John McGraw
