1960 Windshield Wiper Knob

The hole where the set screw threads in is stripped out. Anyone had luck filling hole with epoxy, drilling out and re-threading? Is there another repair option? Time to buy a repro knob?

Joe,
You might try a Heli-Coil insert or other type of threaded insert. Which require dilling and retaping to a size to fit the insert. If the knob is in bad shape, good for a new one, for any expoxy will be short lived.

The helicoil is a good idea if possible. JB Weld claims to be effective for your original idea and I've always had good luck with it. Even patched a hole in a carb with it.
