Sould any type of sealer be used around the intake ports when installing a new manifold? I have heard of it being done both ways, and really dont know if one is better than the other. I know RTV won't hold up, so would Permatex non hardening sealer work? Thanks, Dan

Re: Intake Manifold Installation
Dan-----
If you used an embossed type gasket (like stock GM gaskets) or an elastomer bead-type gasket (like Fel-Pro Print-O-Seal), then no sealer is required around the intake ports. With embossed type gaskets I do use a VERY small bead of silicone RTV around the water crossover passages. I always recommend the use of RTV in place of the rubber end seals. In my opinion, the best RTV to use is Permatex Ultra Copper. Second best is Permatex Ultra Black. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
