    C1 spedo cable/trans leak

My 56 Powerglide is leaking at the spedometer cable exit. In later years, 61 I think, they started putting a seal on the outside end of the driven gear sleeve that should prevent this problem. The seal would seal against the threaded cap on the end of the spedo cable.

    1. Can I install a later driven gear sleeve, with seal, on my 56 P.G.?
    2. Or, can I just cut a recess for the seal in my gear sleeve?
    3. Or, any other suggestions?

Do anyone know how many teeth (or what color) the spedo gear should be for my car? It has the stock differential.

Its not Italian, so I don't expect it to leak!

    thanks
