    Eric-----

You can tell by the etched coding found in the lower right side corner of the windshield. There will be the "LOF" brand name, the type of windshield glass lamination (Safe-T-Plate, Safe-T-Flow, etc.) and a date code. Information on which type lamination and date code decoding can be found in the NCRS Judging Guide for your particular model year.

Thanks for the info Joe, I wrote down the numbers and coding off of it. It is shaded softray saftey flowlite, lof, asi, un, laminated, dot, 15, m24. Does anyone have a judging manual of the 72 year that could look up the code? Thanks Eric

        Eric,

According to the 1970-72 Corvette TIM&JG, 3rd Ed. the date code, UN, represents July 1971. The Judging Guide states that the date should be within 12 months before vehicle assembly. Based on this date, this windshield should be correctly dated for just about every 1972 model year Corvette. Just a guess, is your serial number less than 6000?

            Eric,

While the NCRS TIM&JG suggests a windshield date that is within 12 months prior to the build date of the car, typically the date is closer to 6 weeks to 2 months prior to build date. This is precisely where your windshield date falls, July 1971 vs September 1971. I'd say your windshield has a "very high" probability of being original to your 1972 Corvette based on the "numbers".
