Carb Restoration

I am currently restoring a tri power setup and am wondering what kind of finish is on the carbs? Is it gold cad on the main body and silver cad on the throttle plate? If not what is it and where can I get the the carbs replated

The major carb restoration service suppliers (Kunz/Luck--see the archieves) include replating of all components as part of their services. I don't think you can go shop individual services and rebuild/restore the carb(s) yourself as well or as inexpensively as the major service suppliers can do the job for you (they're already tooled).

The gold looking finish is typically a dichromate wash + bake on pot metal surface used to seal the pourous surface. This was done for function vs. making the part look 'pretty'.

Quanta just sends them to the Holley restoration shop. They do not do the carb work themselves.

I used Holley custom shop. Great restoration. Replaced all bad or missing parts. Replated and bench tested. Very competetive price also.

Used them once. Car wouldn't idle and I eventually sent it to Kunz.. Just one not so good experience I hope..

that is strange because he runs them all on a engine before he ships them. what did the other guy say was wwrong?

It's been quite a while,1995..but the motor just wouldn't idle. I remember Kunz replaced a metering block and I'm not sure what else. Kunz also runs a test motor for tuning.
