    89 Alternator

I recently replaced the original Delco alternator with a generic replacement. I'm having some electrical problems now and I just noticed that this new alternator gets really, really hot to the touch after the car has been idleing for 10 to 15 minutes and it makes a lot of noise that was not there before.
Is it normal for the alternator to get so hot? This is the second alternator from this shop...the first one was not charging. If it gets too hot is this a sign something is not working right? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Can't help any on your current problem, but if you do have to replace it again Delco rebuilt alternators are available from Advance Auto.
