    Armor All vs ??????

We have used Armor All on our midyear vinyl interior as long as we can remember and have had no adverse effects. Is anyone else still using Armor All or should we switch?? Thanks

    Re: Armor All vs ??????

I do not recommend the use of Armor-All on interiors. The best product is Pledge furniture polish, which is basically an emulsion of carnuba was in a solvent that evaporates as it's applied.

The carnuba wax will seal up the surface, which will reduce the rate of outgassing that causes vinyl to shrink, build up stress, and eventually crack.

The carnuba wax will also give the surfaces a satin sheen and smooth finish without the shinniness and sliperyness of Armor-All.

I only use Armor-All - diluted 50/50 with distilled water - on exterior rubber and vinyl such as tires and bumper covers/guards, and widow seals.

I don't know why pledge works. Sounds like Duke does. Been using it since '63. Works for me.

Phooey on armorall. Too greasy, too shiny and too expensive. Don't know if it protects or not.

Have been using "Pledge" on the interior of my 67 since 1992. But not on leather seats. Works great.

Pledge works because of the carnuba wax it contains.

Well, didn't think of leather. I'm a Motel 6 kinda' guy and I can't afford leather.

For sure, dont use ArmorAll on leather

Use only products specifically designed for leather cleaning and conditioning.

Actually Al Knock use to recomend Lemon Pledge on his leather seat covers. I dont know if he still does. They said that the lemon oil was good for the leather and the wax reduces abraison.

Take the all of the Armor All and throw it away!

Lemon Pledge works quite well as does a product from 3M for auto vynil interiors

I've always used Lexol Vinylex Protectant on interior vinyl but recently tried 303 Aerospace Protectant which worked very much the same and leaves a nice soft sheen. They both have a UV sunscreen and they protect and condition vinyl without leaving a greasy/oily look or feel.

I just checked out our Pledge supply and the label says "No wax formula". At the risk of being the preverbial NCRS nit-picker does the stuff comes in no-wax and with-wax?, and is the with-wax the way to go for the vinyl?

Good observation! I just checked my can and it also says "no wax formula". It used to have carnuba wax. Maybe now it doesn't, or is there a "contains wax formula"? Have they screwed up one of my favorite car detailing products?

makers of the most incredible no-water wash auto polish I have ever used has also recently introduced a Leather and Vinyl protectorant that really works like a charm.

I use it not only on my Corvettes but on the leather interior of my Dodge Pick-Up as well. I'm QUITE impressed and satisfied.

My wrench refuses to permit Armor-all, or any other silicone product, in his shop. They can really screw up a paint job with fish-eyes.
