    '62-5 AFB carb parts needed

I need to buy the two tiny (#2 - 40?) screws that hold the choke plate to the shaft and also a brass main inlet fitting (1/8" NPT x 5/8-20 maybe). These parts are for a '62 - 5 Carter AFB.

Can anyone advise a source for these items, new or used?

I think the brass main inlet fitting is the same on the new (Carter or Edelbrock) AFBs. Look at the Edelbrock site and Summit/Jegs for inlets.

      No such luck this time.

Chris, I appreciate your response. Jeg's was my first thought too.

The new Carter and Edelbrock versions don't have the 1/8" female pipe thread inlet like was used in the early sixties on Chevy products. The new carbs come with male hose nipples. You can buy replacement inlet fittings through Jeg's that have a 90 degree banjo or a female flare nut, but no 1/8" female pipe thread fittingss are listed.

I was kinda sorta hoping someone had an old AFB good only for selling small parts...

But can't you get an adapter that converts the NPT to flare? There are a bunch of them used on that fuel line that go from flare to NPT. You're just trying to go the other way.

The screws are NOT 2-40. I usually just re-tap for 10-40 (no drilling required)and use brass round heads which are readily available. Don't forget the loc-tite.

          Dale.

            Thanks for your responses

At the suggestion of Jack Humphrey, I contacted Chicago Corvette Supply. They had all of these parts in stock, or so they said. We'll see what comes in!
