    C2- Seat Reinforcements (Underbody)

My 66 roadster driver side seat nut plates are corroded and and the front long nut plate had a broken bolt stuck in it. I've ground off the rivets and popped them off the body. I'm also thinking about removing the passenger side, bead blasting and than refinishing them. This would make for a neater refinishing than trying to clean them while on the car. I'm thinking of doing the same with the seat belt rein corner reinforcements that are also corroded. How difficult is it to re rivet all of these parts to the underbody and what is the procedure using aluminum rivets?

    Thanks,

The floor plates you should be able to replace the rivets fairly easy. Use an air hammer (you will need a tool to achieve the rounding of the rivet) and have someone inside put downward pressure to allow the rivet to tighten down. The seats will need to come out. The seat belt anchors can be done in the same fashion however, I did mine with the body off the frame. I do not know if you can reach all the rivets with the body on (there are rivets on the side). I ordered new seat belt anchors from Long Island Corvette. The come nicely plated. It really makes the underside look nice.

Body is off the frame , so riveting should be accessable. Judging manual specifies that only front seat nut plate is painted semi gloss bl. All other reinforcements in the seat/belt area are natural not plated.

I stand corrected. Noland Adam's book shows that the seat belt corner reins are plated -- either zinc or cadmium.
