Just was over looking at a restored 57 fuel injection. Purported to be a 283HP car. However the tach drive was off the generator. I thought the 283 was off the distributor. I wonder if the car was a 245 HP rather than the 283 HP. Couldn't get to see the pad stamping on the engine because the car was encased in a big clear plastic bubble. The dealer wanted a mere $89,500 for it. If it is 245 HP I don't think it near as valuable. Comments from those that know?
Theodore,
The F.I. 245 HP engines drove the tack off the generator. Many of the F.I. 283 engines also drove off the generator. All RPO 579E engines and late '57's may have the tack driven off the distributor. The distributor or F.I. tag, block stamping would tell you the horsepower. Price?? One can pay too early but not too much. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. IMO '56's-'57's sure are beautiful! Regards,
