When I performed this repair on my car, I first ran a long wire with alligator clips, from the sending unit flange directly to tne negative battery post. I then tested by turning on the turn signals. The dance had stopped so I made the permanent modification. You might want to test like this before you run a permanent wire. Good luck. If this doesn't work, someone will come up with an answer.
