An FI distributor has tow threaded openings on the tach and fuel meter pump cable side of the unit. The middle opening is for the oil supply line from the block. Does anyone know what the function of the other opening is , and what does the fitting that covers that opening look like? Thanks, Tom Vogel

Re: FI Distributor
If you mean the cover that faces the front of the car, it is an access cover to facilitate removal of the gears that drive the crosshaft, the one that actually turns the cables for the pump and tach. You also access the mail shaft seal from this area in some models.- Top

I think you have them switched

The threaded hole closest to the tach cable is for the oil feed. It leads to the cross-shaft rear bushing. The threaded hole closest to the pump drive end should have a plug in it. The factory plugs had a slot (like a screw) and no head at all.- Top

Re: I think you have them switched
The second threaded hole is there so you can drive out the roll pin in the drive gear for pump and the tach. On my distributor it is plugged with a brass pipe plug with a square head. I have owned my car since new and only this past week did I rebuild it for the first time. The plug had never been out of my car so I know it was not switched.
