Re: C2 Underbody Hardware Finishes
I think what you have said is corect except that the rear seat nut plate is natural (at least on a 67) but does have a darker color to it. In all cases the rivets are not painted. I have looked at the Nolan book so much I could go blind. Unless the finishes change due to the flash what you have stated is correct. I have filmed many cars and the best of the best have what you have described. But in this game the rules aren't always the same. Go with the odds and role the dice. My car is done the way I see it from old pictures and other research.Keith Burmeister- Top

Re: C2 Underbody Hardware Finishes
On the underbody parts that were phoshated, but riveted on, I've found that cast blast paint makes a pretty fair alternative.......I guess "okay at a glance" is a pretty good description. Like somebody else said, they were done before they were mounted, so the rivets don't need to be painted. I don't know of a better way to do em unless they're gonna be drilled off the car, phosphated and re installed.- Top

Mike:
The support was supposedly installed in Zinc Chromate, and then blacked out, along with the engine bay. This generally resulted in incomplete/uneven coverage. In most cases, at least the bottom edges would appear green.

Re: C2 Underbody Hardware Finishes
I can also confirm that the radiator support on A O Smith cars is green zinc chromate. The blackout being sloppy never covered it. The blackout was from the top with the hood open and anything not in the direct line of fire didnt get any black. They did shoot into the front grille opening at the sides and along the lower edge to cover some body color that would have been there.- Top
