    1963 Wiper Motor Issue

My wiper motor was rebuilt and I was out (caught!)in the rain today and the wipers would just stop. It was the first time they have been run since being rebuilt. They will stay in the upright position and then run or go to the off position. It started (hopefully coincidentaly) when I put the radio on. I know all the wires are correct because I did a dry run several times.

Does anyone have any ideas on what is happening?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

Hi Jerry, Give the motor a light whack with a small rubber hammer, that sometimes will help set the end play in motor. Hope that helps. Good Luck.>George

      Jerry:

Whoever rebuilt your motor should have checked it under load, before shipping it to you. Are you saying that the wipers just quit without warning, and then restart at some unspecified time later? If this is so, it is most likely caused by a weak or maladjusted bimetallic overtemp protector, located on the brush plate at the base of the motor.
