What is the best procedure out there to adjust the valves on a hydarulic lifer cam? Two books I have, The 1966 Chassis Service Manual says to adjust the following valves, when the engine is in the number 1 firing position: Exhaust - 1, 3, 4, 8; Intake - 1, 2, 5, 7. When the engine is in the number 6 firing position: Exhaust - 2, 5, 6, 7; Intake - 3, 4, 6, 8. The other method I know of is from How to Build the Smallblock Chevrolet, says to adjust 8 exhaust at TDC, then 2I, 4E, 1I, 3E, 8I, 6E, 4I, 5E, 3I, 7E, 6I, 2E, 5I, 1E, 7I; adjusting each 45 degrees after the previous one in the sequence. The method from the GM manual seems easier to me, and would require spinning the engine less, which would be good since I'm installing new Rhodes lifters. But, is the other way more accurate? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dan
