I have just moved back to the midwest (chicago) and need to know the best way to store my cars for the winter. Climate controlled garage? Carpet, plywood, cardboard ont the floor? Breathable cover? Are the drive in fan bags good ? Whats the best temp to keep the garage? any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tommy

IMO...
Probably a temperature and humidity controlled garage. Fairly low humidity, and cool, but at a constant temperature. The idea is to discourage condensation, which occurs when there are temperature swings, and to have a relatively low-moisture environment without baking or sucking the moisture completely out of things like rubber, vinyl, sealers, lubricants, etc.
That's the intent of the "bag" although it generally gets mixed reviews from users (I haven't tried one).- Top

Re: winter storage
Tommy -
I've lived in Michigan most of my life; my garage is insulated and the floor is epoxy-sealed, and I have heat when I need it - never gets below 50 degrees in the winter. I just park my cars, put flannel-lined covers on them to keep the dust off, and connect a "Battery Tender" to them once a month for a day or so to keep the batteries fully charged. Come spring, I just start 'em up and drive.- Top

Re: winter storage
If climate control is an option, then, hell yes, do that. Keep it at low humidity and around 50F. Drive it once a month.
Most don't have that option. If you don't, pump up the tires to 40; fill the tank, change the oil, and charge the battery once a month. Biggest problem with storage is rodents. Get a cat.- Top
