I am installing, (after 1 year of restoration) the seats in my 65. I forget the order of the rear mounting plates. I think this is the order seat..carpet...insullation...Large PLATE...floor...small plate? No mountiong plate in the front seat track. Could I use a small amount of adhesive on the plates to keep them in place?

Re: C2, 65 seat mounting brackets
The large front mount plate is riveted in place under the car against the floor pan so front bolts screw to nut plates on that cross plate (one long plate per seat). Rear plates (two separate small flat units per seat are tapped to receive the two seat bolts from above for each rail and are not riveted or glued to the under floor pan but held in place by the bolts coming done through the floor from the seat rails above. Check your judging manual for the order description and carpet flap cut detail as the seat does not sit on the carpet - a flap is cut so the seat sits on the floor in front and slides in to the receiver bracket for the rear. Also see if you can get a visual look form another Vette that has original or judged correct set up. Hope this helps.- Top

Re: C2, 65 seat mounting brackets
Peter, I'd like to make a correction to part of your response. The thick rectangular plates with the threaded holes are aluminum riveted to the bottom side of the floor they are not loose pieces. In many cases the reaction between the steel and aluminum caused these parts to "free up". But from the factory they were riveted. The thinner flat sheet metal with the offset to one end holes go on the floor under the carpet at the rear locations only.- Top

Re: C2, 65 seat mounting brackets
Thanks for the response to my input. I have a 66 with original seat mounting hardware and the rear plates are steel with no rivets and no holes in the floor for rivets. Perhaps 66 was different then 65 or my car was the exception to the rule. I will research further and advise if I come up with additional reference. This is what makes the hobby fun !- Top

Re: C2, 65 seat mounting brackets
On my 65 coupe, the inboard nut plates (I believe) were riveted and the outers were not. I recall reading somewhere (perhaps Noland Adams' book???) that it was not unusual to encounter this condition. The nut plates that I got from Paragon were semi-gloss black. BTW their on-line catalog has a good illustration of the sequence of the parts (try pt. no. 1375 when you search and hit the PIC link).Dave Zuberer- Top

Re: C2, 65 seat mounting brackets
My '65 roadster, s/n 153xx, is just like Dave's. Inboard rear nut plates were riveted. Outers were not. Perhaps this was a labor savings idea, since the assy. line worker could reach under the body and hold the outboard nut in place while installing the bolts??
