What is the appropriate look for the original front and rear shocks? Are the fronts spiral? I am looking for the look of originality and not driveability. Thanks in advance for the help.

The rear shocks have a rock guard or shield -spot welded at the FRONT bottom area -
I thought that was dropped...
and the '58 or so and later lacked the shields. BTW, is there, like, ANY chance the spirals will ever be reproduced?Comment

The spirals ARE being reproduced, but they're for '67-'69 Camaros; D&R Classics has just announced them. Don't know how much difference there is in extended/compressed length or damping spec vs. the Corvette application, but it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal for the manufacturer to make them for us too. They're GM Restoration Parts, $69.95 each, and have all the original stampings on them except the date.Comment

I called D&R awhile back and asked them about shocks for a '56
They said they didn't list them by application but if I called
with the original part #s for the shocks they would check and
see if they can have them made.
I've got the part #s wrote down somewhere but that's as far as

Tried "D&R Classics" online, only spiral reference I could find is for used/recond spirals.Comment

They're on page 266 of D&R's 2002 Camaro catalog; P/N K00168-SPR and K00168-Z fronts, K00168-67 and K00168-69 rears.Comment
