Amazed at Number of vettes on ebay

Last night I checked the number of vettes on a yr by yr bases from 53 to 89.
I was amazed. Starting about '65, there is typically over 100. By '78 there is close to 200. And a lot claim numbers matching. Even in the late '60's there is typically 50. And a good handful in the early '50's

And this is just ebay, there must be lots more advertised in the local papers and used dealers.

Of the 115 '73's, they claim that 25% are numbers matching plus a bunch of others that claim "all original" whatever that means.

    How?

    Steve,

I did an eBay title search under "'65 Corvette" and "1965 Corvette". Then I sorted them with the highest prices first. I counted a total of five 1965 Corvettes for sale on eBay right now.

Please tell me how you got a sort showing you over 100 1965 model Corvettes currently up for auction. Or did I misunderstand your post?

      Re: How?

I just did a search on ebay motors, the yr, chevrolet, corvette.
My list showed 138 '65's yesterday.

This is actually www.collectorcartraderonline.com I started on ebay then landed up here.

I thought it was strange that I got only 1 return on '83. I searched that twice to double check.

      Today it shows 140 '65's

        Auto Trader

You're looking at the number of ads in national Auto Trader publications. Those ads automatically appear on-line at the same time they are in print. Only a few of those cars are up for auction on eBay. Perhaps eBay now owns Auto Trader Publications like they own Kruse Auctions.

Steve - I believe 1983 was the skipped year....seems like they went from the 82 to 84 model....Craig

If you just sort by year/Corvette, better than half the returns will be die-cast models or toys.

For those who are interested, enter 1969 in your search and you also come up with a red on black L88 for sale in North Carolina, VIN is included, asking price is $60,000. Isn't this price good for an L88?

                    Two or three different cars?

It would help me a bunch if you guys would list the auction numbers for these cars. On eBay I found a black convertible "L88" in Tennessee up to $80,000, a red L88 clone coupe in Wisconsin with no bids, but no red L88 in NC at all. I've sorted by 1969, 69, L88, L-88, and Corvette by price.

Re: Amazed at Number of vettes on ebay

                        I've been following ebaymotors.com, autotrader.com and hemmings.com for about
a year, looking for a '64 or '65 (coupes only). I've never seen more than about 8 (of these) on auction at any one time. I suspect there's many more roadsters listed. The one thing you can deduce from analyzing the auctions versus the straight ad listings is that people who own midyear 'vettes think they are worth considerably more than the people buying them unless they are strictly original and in good shape. Unless there's a lot of "backstage" sales to avoid a fee to ebay, not many of them sell for what the seller wants. Some of the descriptions are downright hilarious and worth reading for a good laugh.
