A guy runs outside, takes off the cover protecting what appears to be his vintage Buick convertible (top down) and as the thunder and rain starts, he covers instead his Lexus! What's up w/that? What does that say about old car enthusiasts? Couldn't help but getting somewhat annoyed.

Re: Or it may mean
Big Insult To GM. To think anyone would leave a 1954 Buick Skylark convertible out in the rain with the top down is B--- S---. Totally UnAmerican . Every time I see a foreign car with a American Flag in the window or on the bumper I want to throw up. What's wrong with people ? Don't they want to keep America strong by driving domestic cars made right here in North America. And I am not talking about all the foreign transplants in the U.S.( Honda - Ohio Toyota - Kentucky ). Save the Wave, Keep America Great, keep jobs at home for the auto workers. Check that UAW sticker out on the drivers door on your new Corvette that's what it is all about.- Top

Re: Lexus commercial
I wanted to add something to this I found amusing. I was in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl this past weekend for a wedding. While out jogging through a very exclusive neighborhood I eye balled a beautiful 58 Vette and a near mint 58 all option Impalla with 400 original miles sitting in a door open garage. Sitting in the driveway was a new Bently and a Range Rover. Fortunately for me the owner just happen to come out of his garage as I was jogging by and he gave me the complete tour. I'm not sure which car he liked better. The Vette or the Impala. They were both absolutely beautiful. He really didn't have much to say about the other two sitting in the driveway.
Cheers,
Craig

Re: Lexus commercial
It's a ridiculous commercial. Anyone who is 'car lover' enough to own a vintage Buick (or anything else for that matter) would clearly recognize the priority in looking after the older car versus the 'everyday driver' (Lexus, etc or not). As well, it's been my experience that a lot (not all, but many) owners of 'luxury' cars don't regard them as anything more than 'cars', and treat them accordingly. I recall being on a course many years ago with two very well-to-do people from rich families. One drove a Plymouth Fury II (could have been an ex-police car) and the other had an XKE. The XKE was absolutely filthy, with gravel (not dust or dirt, but GRAVEL) in the footwells, dirty paint and glass etc. Clearly, it was 'just a car'to him, and it's unlikely he would be the owner of a classic Buick or anything else...
Lexus also has a commercial showing an owner in his pyjamas looking at his car before going to bed. Yeah, right! I do confess to looking at my '65 (when it's uncovered in the garage sometimes)especially in the winter, when driving's out of the question.- Top
