Re: straight axle number help

Sometimes, things are not what they're "supposed to be". I think that this is one of those times.
First of all, the "AB" axle code was never used for any C1 Corvette. However, it was used for passenger cars from 1957 through 1964. The 57-62 C1 third member is interchangeable with the 57-64 passenger car.
Second, the GM #3725899 center section case was used from 1957-64 in both passenger cars and Corvettes. It was used only for non-posi axles.
Given the apparent date code on yours of December 10, 1956, I'd say that this center section was originally installed in a 1957 passenger car with 3.36:1 non-posi axle ratio and Powerglide transmission. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
