    Had a similar problem on a motorcycle wheel that was uncoated aluminum. Turns out that tapped moisture had caused slight exfoliation corrosion on the portion that contacts the tire bead. Put it on a spindle and rotated while holding a Scotchbrite pad against the inside of the mounting flange, which solved the problem, so check the bead mounting flange on your KO.

    When you have tires mounted have the guy dry off the lubricant after the beads are over the rim edge. I think the water in the mounting lube was the culprit.
