I received a 1961 chassis detailing kit and it calls for the frame stencil to be painted red. I thought I have seen the frame stenciled in white? Thanks, Joe

Always wondered why anyone CARED about stencils...
Since all the literature I have ever seen describes chassis blackout, which, among other things, was SUPPOSED to obliterate the chassis stencil. I suppose if the chassis line guy was having a bad day it might not be completely hidden, but then wouldn't QC catch it later on the line?- Top

Re: Always wondered why anyone CARED about stencil
Quality Control would come closer to catching a VISIBLE stencil. The manufacturing standard was for all inspection marks, identification marks, and bright components such as brake and fuel lines to be black-out painted with the asphaltic mastic.
