    64 vs. 65 Factory A/C System

Requesting information / assistance with Factory A/C parts and components that comprise the 64 and 65 Factory A/C Systems for a 65 350HP car. I'm trying to determine if a 64 system can be used in a 65 and would it be NCRS / BG correct? My questions are as follows:

    >Was the same A/C Compressor used in 64 and 65? If so, was there a foil tag attached which shows when the compressor was assembled? Any other known differences with respect to 64 and 65 Compressors?

    >A/C Compressor - Were the same engine A/C Brackets for the compressor used for 64 and 65?

    >A/C Condensor - Was the same condensor used for 64 and 65?

    >Blower and Evaporator Assembly - Any changes between the 64 and 65 model years?

    >Interior Distributor Assembly - Same question as immediately above.

    >Left and Right A/C Outlet Ducts - Same Question

Really just trying to understand if there were any changes to the entire system from 64 to 65, and if so, specifically what are those changes? Also, if there are any noticeable (or stamped) part numbers that are looked at from a judging perspective that differentiate the 64 from the 65 system, would be interested in knowing specifically what those components are, as well.

And last, but not least, if you are aware of any other changes between the two model years A/C Systems that I have not specifically asked about, any information that could be shared on that topic would be most appreciated.

Thanks in Advance for Any Assistance,

    Rick #13174

    Re: 64 vs. 65 Factory A/C System

I had a 64 w/AC for many years and now have a 65 w/AC. I think both are virtually identical. The possible exception would be date codes on the compressor (if it does have date codes). The judging manual should give more info on the foil tag. Don H.

        Re: 64 vs. 65 Factory A/C System

Rick - Sorry for the late response. While the '64 and '65 C60 are basically identical as others have indicated, be advised that early '64 C60 systems had components that were carry overs from the '63 model year production. Specifically, the configuration of the compressor label and the muffler of early '64 C60 systems might be '63 components along with the fan blade assembly. If you're looking at a later '64 C60 system if should be basically identical to the '65 C60 system. Also, if you plan to put the '64 C60 system in a '65 which originally had AC no problem but if you plan to put the system in a car that didn't originally have C60 there are some unique features so pay particular attention to detail. Pete

          Re: 64 vs. 65 Factory A/C System

Thanks for a reply also, Peter. Great Information, I might add. The 65 is a Factory A/C Car so that won't be a problem. It remains to be seen if the system came from an early 64 VIN car. I was just curious about the changes / differences, if any, between the two systems. Looks like some more fact finding is necessary.

          Appreciate your Help..!!!
