    C4 Throttlebody Stud bolts

I have an 84 that is missing the four throttlebody studs. I cannot find them anywhere. I live in Texas and bought the car which is in Calif having the heads and all put back on. These are the only items missing for the reassembly so that I can go pick it up. I need a source for the bolts, the bolts or an alternative solution. thanks in advance bill

    Bill-----

If you are talking about the BOLTS which fasten the throttle body assemblies to the manifold, GM never offerred these as seperate pieces. They were available only as parts of a fastner KIT. Depending upon application, the part numbers for the kits were GM #17079850, 17078839, or 17078831. Unfortunately, all of these are discontinued and may be difficult to locate.

So, the only option that I see is to go to an "alternate solution". Although I am personally unfamiliar with the bolts, it would seem to me that some sort of a standard fastner could be made to work. As far as I can tell, these are a simple hex-head bolt. While 2 different lengths are used and length is critical for these bolts, a longer bolt could be obtained and cut of, as required.

As an aside, this is the type of problem which many C4 owners are going to be facing in the years to come. Your problem is minor and, likely, easily solved compared to many others that will be "surfacing". C4s are HIGHLY complex cars and have a very high parts content. By far, C4s are the highest content Corvettes ever built (or, likely, ever to be built). High content= lots of parts for GMSPO to obtain and inventory. That, in turn, results in a lot of parts being discontinued. So far, the reproduction market has been seriously "quiet" about addressing C4 parts needs. There are just so many parts, including many model-year specific parts, that it's going to become a difficult problem.

Thanks Joe. You sure know what you are talking about on the 84. Finding these throttlebody studs is ten times more difficult than finding a whole numbers correct motor for my 1958. I can locate a 58 motor in minutes and these studs---well, I have been trying for weeks. bill
