    C2 Power Antenna

The power antenna on my 66 does not move. Is there a rebuild kit offered from any of the aftermarket supply houses?

I don't know about a rebuild kit or who does it but I found one that is for sale on an exchange basis only. Stoudt Auto Sales in Reading PA has one (ORIGINAL) but they want BIG$$$ (500). I'm looking for an original and came across this one, but they wouldn't sell at any price without an exchange, so I assume that means they have a rebuilder.

Since I'm new at this I'm sure you'll get better responses and I'll be reading them too!

Dale Smith at OEM Glass does excellent rebuilds, very nice work. 1-800-283-2122 or 1-309-662-2122. He's been doing them for many years.

I just had to deal with this problem as I am getting acquainted with my
65 roadster. However in my case the antenna moved for a few days then froze.
I found that the switch on the console was burned and shorted out. So you might
want to check that first. By the way I used a small marine momentary switch
which works fine as a replacement, and noone will notice except a judge.

If you're the adventureous type and have the Complete Restorer CD, you'll find several articles from the past on do-it-yourself antenna overhaul. Typically, water gets inside and rusts/rots the cable & reel. Once the cable breaks inside the antenna mast sections, you're probably into the professional restoration service.... But, if you catch it before that point, you can get lucky and have fun doing the surgery yourself!
