    C3:Tri-power casting #

I have an intake that I can't determine what it is off of. It is a tri-power with the numbers 3969801. It currently has aug 68 carbs on it but am not sure if original or not. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with that casting. I don't think that it was ever originally used on a Corvette and no other Chevrolet product of the period used the 3 X 2 set-up (Corvettes shouldn't have, either, but that's another story). It's possible that casting was a casting destined for use on the 1970 Corvette 3 X 2 454 which was cancelled and never produced. I'll have to check on it later.

Most likely an over-the-counter replacement or performance part of some sort; that's a 1970-71 vintage casting number, doesn't show in the 1973 P&A30B, and didn't have a production application.
