    C2 Expansion Tank

I have a original expansion tank on my 1965, it is in need of repair, the ends of the tubes have holes in it and someone tryed filling a hole in the side with epoxy which still holds but looks bad. Is it worth trying to restore it and if so where would I take it? Or should I buy a new one with the proper date code if I can get it. The date code is 64M. Thanks for your input.

At this point, I really think that your existing expansion tank is probably beyond "it's useful life". I think that you could put a lot of effort into it and you still won't end up with a cosmetically acceptable unit.

So, I think that your best plan is to obtain a DeWitts reproduction which has been dated-coded to match your existing tank. Such reproductions are available through vendors like Dr. Rebuild or directly from DeWitts. I suggest both alternatives since, sometimes, if you are purchasing several parts, it's convenient and more economical, shipping-wise, to get it all from a "one-source" vendor.

What date stamp should be on an early production 1967 Corvette. I have been told the date code could vary from 64 to 67. Does this make sense?
Is a 65L correct for my 1967. If not, I may have one for sale.

You would need to know what month your car was built in order to determine a proper date code for it. The 65L is definitely incorrect for a 1967. The 65L is either for a late 1965 or very early 1966.

The tank I have is a 65C not 65L. That was a Typo. It appears the tank is incorrect for my August66 built 1967, but it might be good for you. Any interest?

Sorry, my car was built in Dec 1964 and I just ordered a new tank today from Dewitt. I am sure if you put it on ebay you will find someone interested.

Ralph - Check out Noland Adams book (page 446) for an idea of the expansion tank dates to expect. I have an early '67 (S/N 1476) and the tank is 66G and the radiator is 66J. Pete
