    C1 58 Rear Bumper Brackets

Talking about the inner frame setup and not outside. The 58 AIM shows the 59-60 style bracket assbly. I know that the 58 had a unique "real monstrous" arrangement as I have just one. The original one was with all my piles when I bought the car but don't know if it actually belonged to the car. I have since purchased a set of 59-60 style which I was going to use. My queston is this:

Did the entire 58 model year come with the unique style brackets or did it change sometime early/late in the year (my build is may 28, 1958)?

Have the opportunity to swap out with someone with 59 that has the 58 brackets. Suspect it would be really good deal for me but not if the late cars used the newer style. Advice?

Re: C1 58 Rear Bumper Brackets

There was a thread on corvette resto in July about 1958 bumper brackets.
It appears that the 1958 configuration lasted up through #89xx (Mike Greene's car) at least.

Your recollection on the production number is good for me. Forgot to ask first time--I have the body rubber seals for the newer style also. Would you know if the newer rubber are the same for the old style brackets or will I have to get different ones? CorvetteCentral shows a "58-rear bumper seal, pr. (in trunk)" and "58-60 rear bumper mount seals, ea. (4 req)"? Would the first seals be the top coverplates over the mount areas? Never have seen in pictures on any of this or looked at any 58's yet. Trying to speed my effort up. thanks in advance

Bill - I think that their "in trunk" item must be the (rubber, about 1/4 thick) vertical flap plates that slip over the ends of the "railroad track" to cover the hole. The remainder of the seals, such as their #201317 which is the square tube of stepped dimension that surrounds the bumpers' 4 mounting bolts, should be the same for 58-60. I may have some pictures that would help, holler if so.
