My 1965 has a base 250HP with standard transmission. The distribitor is #1111076 with the correct date code. I am installing a WCFB 3696S carburetor that is for an automatic, but I belive the only difference between the 3696S and the 3697S is the kick down linkage. The carburetor has the vacume tube that should be hooked to the vacume advance, but there is no vacume advance on the distruibtor or signs of where one whould been attached. The refference books that I have read show a vacume advance for the base engine. Could some please educate me on vacume advance?
Is it a single point distributor? Maybe it's a dual point and someone switched the metal ID tag.
A single point distributor must have a vacuum can to radially locate the breaker plate, but maybe somebody modified it. You've got to figure out what you really have.
