Which would be all good and fine if there wasn't a 2-3 week lag time in delivery to members in various parts of the country. If you're looking to buy any parts out of Driveline, good luck. They're all sold by the time I get mine. Why can't NCRS put it online or offer online ads?
would drop significantly. The cost of an ad is directly linked to the number of people reached. If online, the number of ads would have to be reduced and, probably, the revenue per ad would decrease. I am sure NCRS needs the money.
A second consideration is that not everyone had a computer.
I don't think that NCRS sees much revenue from classified ads in the Driveline; the ads are FREE to members. I think that it's more a question of the fact that the Driveline reaches and is used by many more members than an internet-based, on-line system would be. I think that there are a LOT of NCRS members that have not entered the "computer-age", yet. Or, they've entered it, but WAY under-utilize it. It's too bad, also. Just think of how many NCRS members out there have Corvette questions of all sorts and have not figured out the means to get them answered/discussed here on the NCRS Discussion Board. The Discussion Board is one of the greatest resources that NCRS provides.
Believe me, the Internet is great, even for "old-timers" like me that grew up in a world that never heard of computers or the internet. In fact, through the internet (and classmates.com), I was recently able to get in touch with and communicate with the long-lost classmate and friend that took me for my first ride in a Corvette AND STARTED IT ALL FOR ME. Without that 1964 ride in that 1964 white coupe with 4 speed and L-75 engine, I might very well not be on this discussion baord today! It was absolutely GREAT communciating with Rod again after being completely out of touch for 38 years!
