The car will kick down into a lower gear at 25 or lower, yet won't do so at a higher speed. My understanding is that there is a switch at the accelerator that allows for the high speed downshift. I can't find a diagram for wire colors/sizes etc. in either the GM shop manual or the 70 Assembly instructions. How does this switch work and what is the correct wiring ?

Re: 70 kick down switch
Jeff; The switch wireing is in the option section of the assembly manual under m40 auto trans section. The kick down wireing is available in a harness form from lectric limited and I think most of the wire is orange. I had to buy a new one for my 69 and it was about 22.00 and was perfect and identical to original. It connects at the trans and goes up the left footwell and into the firewall at one of the plugs, I think with the speedo cable, and has a switch on the top of the accelorator pedal mount that is adjustable. It gets the power from an existing wire under the dash. Hope this helps, I gave my ass. manual away with the car and am going on memory. David- Top
