    C1 Cast/Build dates of '59 and '60 posi units

What was the time difference from casting to build dates on '59 and '60 production of positraction units? Actual time to assemble the units.
Where were the units assembled and how long did it take to ship them to the Corvette assembly plant? How were they shipped?
Were there any specific time frames that the average times may differ because of strikes, work slow downs, vacations, or Acts of God?

Thank you for any information and actual specifics on origional cars.

    Michael-----

I believe that the housings for the C1 axle carrier units were cast at the Chevrolet Foundry located in Saginaw, MI and shipped to the Chevrolet Gear and Axle Plant in Warren, MI (I'll need to check later on this location since I'm not certain at the moment). I expect that transit time bewteen the locations was 2-7 days. From casting of the case to assembly and shipment of the finished units to St Louis, I would expect a total time of 5-14 days.

The units were shipped to St. Louis in steel racks which were returned to the Gear and Axle plant for re-use. I don't know if these were a rail-shipped or truck-shipped part, although I expect that they were truck-shipped.
