    C4 84 Thermostat Housing

What difficulty might I have locating 84 Thermostat Housing or who can I purchase one from. The car is physically in Calif and I am in Texas. Folks putting motor back together heads/intake/throttlebody/acc/etc have been having terrible time with special bolts and lots of things. Lots of this stuff I have located and shipped to them. They almost have the car ready for me to go out and pickup except they need a THERMOSTAT HOUSING? My problem is that I have never seen car, don't have any reference materials on this model yet and I am just to far away.

If this housing is like finding throttlebody studs, HELP!!!!!! Will something else work like 1982 models or passenger setups?

    Bill-----

The 1984 Corvette thermostat housing, GM #14047010, was a one-year-only piece. It was discontinued several years ago and, as far as I know, is not reproduced. Would another housing work for the application? That I could not tell you. The 84-up radiator hoses (and fittings) were generally smaller than those used for earlier years. But, there may be another outlet used for some other 84+ application, Corvette or non-Corvette, that would work. I just don't know what it is.

For the 84 piece, you could try a Corvette used parts source like Contemporary Corvette of Bristol, PA, Steve Arcoleo (a good C4, C5 used parts source that usually advertises in Chevy/Corvette Trader and other magazines), or Pacific Corvette of Puyallup, WA.

Thanks again Joe! I will try things out and see what happens. Cannot wait to see what other "unique" problems arise as I get this particular car ready and on the road. Not just now but 5-years from now. For starters, think I will start buying every throttlebody bolt set and thermostat housing that I run across.

I think that you'll find that the throttle body bolts and the thermostat housing are going to be about the LEAST of your parts acquisition problems. Many parts for early C4s (and, even, later C4s) are discontinued and difficult to locate.
