    Distributors

What are the differences between a tach drive distributor# 1111076 and #1111087?
    Thanks for any help!

    Ray-----

The only differences between these 2 distributors are the weights and the vacuum control. Coincidentally, the springs and auto cam, which often vary among Corvette distributors, are the same. All other components of the distributors, except for the ID bands, are the same. The GM #1111087 distributor may utilize a red-dyed ID band whereas the 1111076 may not.

The GM #1111076 distributor was originally used for 1965 Corvettes with 250 hp and 300 hp (L-75) engines. The GM #1111087 distributor was originally used for 1965 and early 1966 Corvettes with L-79.

      Thanks! Joe

Some one had removed the vacuum can on my base 250HP 65 distributor and cut the arm flush with the distributor case and welded the vacuum arm in place. They then filed the ballance with weld and ground smooth. I removed the main shaft and gear form the tach drive and both gears were striped. I now need to replace the tach drive #1111076 distributor.

      Thanks for the help!

It never ceases to amaze me how many bubba fixes there are out there...hard to believe someone would do what you describe, but, I guess it shouldn't surprise me. It just sounds like far more work than fixing it correctly....Craig

Obviously another victim of Summit/Jeg's catalog transference - "If big-buck billet "race car" distributors don't use vacuum advance, it must be bad for a street car to have it, so I'll remove it, and my car will run like a race car". Bubba (and his relatives) are everywhere, but sometimes you have to dig to find their tracks.
