    Lug nut Trivia Question

The literature suggests that the long nuts for knock off adaptors are gold plated, and std lug nuts are zinc/silver plated.

The standard lug nuts on my '69 are gold colored, and have 3 small triangular indentations on the outer surface, centered around the circumference of the nut.

Could these be the originals for the '69? Would they also be the same for a '66?

Were mid year std lug nuts silver? Were they stamped with the small indentations?

    thanks for any trivia!

    For what it is worth:

My early 70 has silver plated lug nuts with the 3 indentations that you describe. There are some letters on them, but I would have to look to see what they are. As you know, we don't judge lug nuts, but every 1970-1972 I have seen was silver color. I would not expect a gold color on the lug nuts in my years.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to assume that midyear lug nuts were also zinc/silver in color.

Can anyone confirm if 66/67 lug nuts were silver in color, and if they had the three small indentations on the outer surface?

      thanks, Everett
