Joe and Clem - I have a GM 095 ball-bearing, TI distributor, with no vacuum advance. I had been perplexed about the reverse helix on the gear... until now. These are interesting pieces - probably a great part on a race car.

Part of the history of this GM

distributor may lie in the story titled "The Rage of Grady Davis"; it is alleged that Davis wanted this type of distributor in his 2 ZO-6 cars for the 12 Hours of Sebring. Zora said "Not necessary". The blue car got to and into 3rd place before expiring on course with a busted distributor bushing........
