Has anyone changed the gas gauge sending unit on a C2 coupe without dropping the gas tank? If so, any hints?

Re: gas gauge
I changed the sending unit on my 66 last year, at the same time I changed the tank too. But, I removed the sending unit before taking the tank out, and put the new one in after the new tank was in. It was very straight forward, and the hardest part for me was getting the old sending unit out, since the retaining ring was so rusty. Hope this helps, Dan- Top

Re: gas gauge
if you buy the special tool for the cam plate it is a straight forward job. if you try to pound at the cam ears with a hammer and screwdriver you will risk disaster. when inatlling the cam, give a very slight upward bend to each of the three leading edges. this will allow the new cam plate to go into the correct grooves and get the thing "started". if you don't do this step, you have to push upward very hard to compress the o-ring to get the cam started. straight forward with the tamk in the car.- Top
