Two of the nuts that hold the rear emblem and bezel in place keep coming off inside the trunk of my 59. It is not clear to me how these nuts are supposed to be attached to the bezel (I have seen them described as bat wing nuts). I don't notice any threads on the pins that penetrate the trunk and hold the bezel in place. Are the sharp edges that are turned down supposed to dig into the bottom of the inside plate? Thanks.

They're self-threading (they cut their own threads in the bezel pins as you turn them); they're a weird design compared to the usual stamped self-threading nuts used elsewhere, have no idea why they were used instead.- Top

Re: C1 emblem nuts
The turned up corners face out when installed. There is actually a tool that can be purchased that twists and tightens these type of nuts. The turned up corners fit into the tool (or dig into your fingers if installed by hand!). If the plastic posts are worn down from the nuts being put on and taken off many times, the nuts may not be holding and that is why they are falling off. You may have to look for a smaller size, incorrect nut. The nuts are difficult to bend to decrease the size of the hole because they are made of spring steel. Hope this helps.- Top

Re: C1 emblem nuts
Thanks for your input John and Joe. The other side of the nuts also have some pointed edges that face down. What purpose do they serve? They seem to have scored a circle around the inside plate. Are they supposed to dig into the item they are holding in place?- Top
