    '68 PCV Inlet/Flame Arrestor Setup

The original PCV inlet setup for my '68 L79 was missing and I'm trying to replace it. The AIM lists the following:

    3849856 arrestor - flame
    3932336 hose
    3923260 connector
    3923256 grommet

gmpartsdirect.com shows the hose and connector. Does anyone know a source for the arrestor and grommet? Also, is 3849856 a two piece affair? Based on the AIM, it looks like one piece slides up into the air cleaner base and the other is placed from above the top of the air cleaner base. I'm wondering if both pieces come in this one p/n.

    Roger -

Paragon has all these parts, including the flame arrestor and grommet. The flame arrestor is one piece - installs over the tube "stub" inside the air cleaner with a press fit.

My original owner 68 L79's open air cleaner base has a round metal tube attached and the removable flame arrester is attached on this tube. Connecting to the other end of this tube is the hose which has a metal tube at the end of the hose that goes into rubber gourment in the factory chrome valve cover.

Thanks, Jim. That sounds just like what I see in the AIM. John, I could swear I checked the Paragon catalog - maybe I just need to check it again, side by side with the AIM picture. Gentlemen, thank you both for the help.

You do want a flame arrestor in there. Prevents explosions. Commonly used in marine applications too.

            Roger -

Everything you need is on pages 4-5-6 of their latest (V.27.2002) catalog.
