    58 dual 4bbl fuel pressure

Where in the fuel line is the best place to check fuel pressure? I think the replacement type pump is running too high a pressure causing my recently rebuilt carbs to start leaking again (onto the intake manifold). 58 245hp w/2x4bbl wcfb. Thanks, Ken

Just disconnect the fuel line right where it goes into the filter and spin the engine with the starter. I would ground the coil wire so it won't start. Pressure should be no more than about 4.5#.

Re: 58 dual 4bbl fuel pressure

Had a very similar issue with my dual carb setup as well.
The carbs were flow tested with no bleeding and they had 8 pounds
to the input. Most stock fuel pumps push 5-7 pounds. Unfortunatly, I picked an aftermarket Holly pump that was pushing 12 pounds causing the blled over.
Check the pressure before the filter as a first step. Second, check out the float level by taking the carb side screws while the engine is running.
