C2 3:08 posi rear differential

My car runs and handles great. BUT when pulling out from a stop the car near stalls, unless I pull out at 1700 - 2000 rpm. Or if I feather the clutch, which I don't want to continue doing. Is it true that this is common with small blocks with a 3:08 rear? Any advice will be appreciated.

Well I've got a '63 - SHP engine with a close ratio T-10 and 3.08 gear - 75 MPH in first gear at 6500; 102 in second, 128 in third, and about 152 in fourth.

Usually I just bump out the clutch at idle to get the car moving, then declutch and give the throttle a little blip and quickly release the clutch. Sounds real "racy" - like a roadracer stumbling through the paddock.

You didn't say what engine you have, but if it bogs bad, it's probably too lean and richening up the idle mixture should mitigate the stumble when starting out from a dead stop.

Of course, hills aren't much fun, nor is heavy stop and go traffic.

You might want to check that the acc. pump is set up right and/or is it working properly.
