what should I expect to pay for a 69 427/435 motor

I found a 69 coupe that originaly had a 427/435 under the hood, unfortunalty the car is now short said motor, What should I expect to pay for one of these beasts of an engine with all of the right parts there.

Also what do you think the car is worth less the motor???
The car itself is in need of a total restoration you name it it needs it but that is what I am looking for, It would be a better buy if it had the motor and I know it is a pain to find one
If you have anything to add on this I appreciate it..

You're looking at a MAJOR expenditure for the engine, and the same for the rest of the car; building/restoring a car one part at a time is incredibly costly, and chances are you'd be under water financially in short order unless it's a rare and very desirable car in the marketplace (which it isn't). You're always better off to buy the best car you can afford, and drive it and enjoy it.

I'd think $10k for the motor would not be a surprise. That's what a friend paid for a 66 427/425 without carb, correctly restamped.

I passed on a 69 427/435 coupe 3 years ago that was all there but in need of a total restoration. The price then was $10k, the likely price of restoration $35k or more, for a car worth $35-40k tops.

I passed on it.

I know that the restoration would be expensive but I would be doing all of my own work and when I say "all" I mean all of it.
I would rather find a complete engine that was not ready to go. something that I would need to do work on.
body, paint, engine, everything so I know I will cut out a lot of cost right there, I know that this particular engine will not be cheap and the endevor of restoration will not be cheap as well...This I know all to well.

I guess I should ask do you still have that guys number who had the one for sale at 10K haha =0)

Johnny about a week ago I saw an local add selling a 66 427/425 high performance rebuilt engine with 800 miles on the rebuild.

Yeah that's a bit much! I think he wants that kind of cash because he is representing it as a L-88 I see his intake manifold is for an l-88
he didn't put up his cast numbers for the block....expensive toys!!

Well tell me this
As long as I have a block with the right casting numbers and a cast date that jives with the build date of the car I should be good right.... I have read that up to 6 months is an acceptable time between the engine cast dates and final assembly of the car is this correct?
The car I am looking at was built in July 69 so that is on the aft end of the production cycle....I found a block that has a cast # of 3935439 that is a late 68 and early 69 block would I be able to use something like this in a later 69 car without getting hit on points??

Cant I get the vin numbers stamped on to make it correct as well??

Im new to all of this factory correct restoration but Im here to learn!!!!
