    Belts Again!

    John,

Paragon lists the AIM belts, they are:

    WP 3952336= 31.86 in.
    PS 3940992= 43.5 in
    ALT 3883979= 30.65 in

They list another WP belt #2480 (3935420) at 32.46" application was 1969 w/350 hp w/o PS &/or AC for $25. Part no. 2600 Alt belt is 31 in long @ $32. The only PS belt just shorter than the 43.5 in is No.1403 (3889380) 43.38 in for $15.

A note they have suggests, "checking all pulley numbers to be sure they are correct . Belts do not fit properly if any existing pulleys are incorrect."
    Good luck,

      Re: Belts Again!

      Dave,

Thanks for feed back. The pullies are correct... I did get those same numbers from the Paragon catalog. Here are the service replace lengths:

      WP ... 9433716 - .44 x 32.00" too tight... (orig 31.86")
      PS ... 9433739 - .44 x 43.50" too short... (orig 43.50")
      Alt... 9433719 - .44 x 33.50" too long... (orig 30.65") not sure what

      happend here...?

They ride higher in the grooves because there thicker... consequently, its like having larger pullies.

      John

        Belts Again!

John, Are the belts you have the "wrapped" style? If so, you may want to exchange/buy the "cut" type. They are a little narrower and will fit down in the grooves of the pulleys a little farther. I have the cut type on my '69 BB with PS and they work just fine.

          Dave,

They are the "cut' style... Are the belts you are running the same GM service replacements that I have listed?

            Belts Again!

I just looked thru all of my receipts for the belts part nos. and did not find it. The alternator belt I have is a Goodyear generic belt with the little v-notches on the inside. i bought it at Murray's discount auto. I will check the belts themselves on the PS and WP tomorrow and let you know what I find.

John, I just checked the belts on our BB '69, the "generic" Goodyear belt I mentioned earlier is on the WP to the PS pump. Belt ID'd as "3538" which is stenciled perpendicular to the axis of the belt also has "10AV0785" on it. I am looking it up in my catalogues as I am sure I bought it from one of the Vette NOS suppliers. Oops, exhausted all my catalogs without finding them. Also noted I should have the inner most belt for WP only, I will order one today.

Sorry I could not help any more. By the way, have you checked and made sure that all of your components are at the inner or outer extreme of movement for adjustment for best belt fit?

Regarding Alternator belt; Paragon lists their part no. 1409 as a GM NOS belt #3878243 That is 31.62 in. long for $15 cut style or $25 wrapped style. Listed for 1969 390 & 435 hp BB w/P/S. When installing the PS and ALT belts, the PS belt is tensioned before the PS belt.
