C2 - tank to pump fuel line replacement

Need some advice... I have a driver that I do not ever intend to have judge so correctness is not an issue.... but safety and functionality are.

My fuel line as it exists today is mostly rubber hose with sections of steel line spliced in here and there. I'm not even going to attempt to install the one piece.

My question: is it worth purchasing a one piece and chopping it up and splicing it or will I be ok running a rubber hose throughout the entire length of the car.

BTW, I'm replacing it because the rubber hoses are old and cracked.

As always, I appreciate your expertise/advice

    Thanks
    Brian

Brian- If you only interested in safety, I would go to a local speed shop that offers car fabrication/engine building services and get them to plumb your tank with braided fuel line from tank to carb. There are several maufacturers of line and fittings which would provide a safe solution. The multi-splice that you are contemplating sounds like a prescription for disaster. Also, you self- described mechanical abilities do not bode well for success in this instance. Good luck.

I did this a couple of years ago. I bought a pre-bent steel line, and cut it where it goes through the hole in the frame, above the trailing arm; cutting it so about an inch or so sticks into the frame. This left me with a long staight section, which I fed forward along the frame rail from the back (I straightened some of the croockedness of this section, where it bends up to the pump, and removed some of it to, so my rubber line from the pump to the steel line is longer than stock). This made it possible to feed it along the frame rail from the front of the rear wheel well. With this section installed, I took the long straight piece, that starts where the line goes into the frame at the trailing arm, and extends back to the tank, and installed a two inch piece of rubber hose on it. Starting with the rubber end, I feed it through one of the tail light holes (I dont remember which) up to the other line. With the trailing arm out, you can reach into the frame and connect the two. With this method, it looks stock since the splice is inside the frame, and it requires only one splice. But, you do have to remove the trailing arm to do it, as far as I can tell. Hope this helps, Dan

I apologize for the name mix up on my first post.I was able to get a prebent line in from the tailight. I made one cut near the trailing arm bolt and was able to snake the line in through the chassis without shortening it. I covered the joint with a small piece of rubber line. I did it with the trailing arm in place. Good luck
