    Posi Rear end for 59

I have been told that the rear end on my 59 Fuelie is not correct, but a common replacement. The casting number is 3789812 GM6 P. The casting date code is B119. There is no plate but I believe its ratio is 3.70. The bell housing is leaking slightly and needs to be serviced. If I am going to make it correct, now might be the time. What casting numbers should I be looking for? I found one that I have been told is correct with a casting number of AN 3743833, that is a 3.70 Posi, and with appropriate dates for the build date of my car. Is this correct and is it worth the additional $900 cost for the correct one? Thanks. - Kevin

    Kevin -

The one you found is correct for your car, but axle numbers aren't judged in Flight Judging - only in Bowtie judging.

Thanks John. If NCRS Top Flight standards are not concerned with dates on the rear axle, then I assume paying for a correctly dated one will not add any value to my car in terms of its correctness. I think you may have saved me about $900. That's always a good thing! - Kevin
