I have a 63 convert., 340 HP, 4-spd. Did the L76 come with a steering damper? Can you help me?

......but, the steering relay rod will still have the extra holes for the steering dampner attachments. ALL 1963 Corvette steering relay rods were the same, regardless of whether a steering dampner was actually installed. So, don't be confused by the unused holes on the relay rod.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

When I realized my '63 L-76 did not have a steering damper, I just figured
the plant forgot to install it, but since the steering was fine
I decided not to install one.
Some years after that I finally came to realize that SHP/FI engines with the big oil pan did not have a steering damper because the long deep section of the oil pan precluded its installation without interference.
This was also the primary reason that power steering was not available on SHP/FI engines with the big pan.
