    Replacement Radiator for 1962 Corvette

I am restoring a 1962 corvette, and am looking for a replacement radiator. From the archives, I have found that the Brass or Coper options tend not to have the cooling capacity to keep up with output of the engine. I am really looking to keep this as close to stock as possible in order to maintain her value. Please advise of any after market Aluminum radiators that will not decrease the value of the car. VR Lew

    Lewis,
Dewitts makes an absolutely corrrect repro radiator for your car. Tom's radiators are of very high quality and will judge very well at flight judging, usually taking no point deducts.

you need to bite the bullet and step up for one of dewitt's aluminum radiators. these are the finest available. if you do not use one of their's you will pay in the long run. been there!

Second Bob's opinion. DeWitt's is an excellent install. Been there with my '67. Glad I did.

Lewis, bought my Dewitt radiator for my 1962 at Bloomington in 1997 and it has worked perfectly ever since. He also has the correct dated tag, decals and drain cock. I did develop a leak in one of their expansion tanks, and they promptly heliarc welded the tube free of charge. If you can catch them at a Corvette show you might get a better price. Chuck

The DeWitts aluminum reproduction is the ONLY way to go. Absolutely. Positively. Period.

I was using a brass replacement in my 62 up until this last summer. It operated fine, USING AN AUXILLARY FAN. Any of the replacements, brass or aluminum, are very obvious to anyone familiar with the cars. I found a NOS Harrison for about half the cost of a DeWitts repo and installed it. I can't tell any difference in operating temp between the two, but the aluminum radiator is unquestionably more efficient.

NOW LEWIS, I KNOW WHAT YOUR THINKING. DAMN, THATS ALOT OF MONEY. YES BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I JUST FINISHED A 62 FUEL CAR. FIRED IT UP LAST WEEK WITH A NEW DEWITT'S IN IT. AFTER 1/2 HOUR BREAK IN TIME THE TEMP WAS RIGHT AT 180%. AND IT NEVER WENT PAST 180%.

Dewitts carries a second line of aluminum radiators - Griffin Radiators. Their HP line performs very well, comparable to the Dewitts. Cost is about 100.00 less and their appearance is similiar, but not exact to a Dewitts. If you have an optional engine or a bored block, they will run hotter and need an aluminum radiator
