    C2 carb

I am trying to confirm the originality of my carb on my 65 roadster, 327/350. It has
been rebuilt before I acquired it. The Holley website offers list numbers
but their files cannot be opened or downloaded. Is anyone privy to info to
ID a carb? It appears to be a 4150. Top number on air horn is 3849804.
Third set of numbers is 2210, which I have read should represent a date code.
    Any thoughts? Thanks.

    John-----

GM #3849804 is the carb used for 1964-65 Corvettes with L-76 or L-79 engines (1965). It is Holley list number 2818-A and it is a model 4150C. The "2210" is a date code which indicates that the carburetor was manufactured on the 221st day of 1970 or, possibly, even 1980 as this particular carburetor was available in GM SERVICE into the late 1980s. Obviously, it's a SERVICE carburetor, but it should be configured virtually identical to the original carburetor used on your car if yours is an L-76 or L-79.

      John -

The configuration is correct, and the second line should read R-2818; the "2210" on the third line indicates that it's a service replacement, made in mid-August, 1970 (or 1980). The original OEM carb would have had a 3-digit date code.

I should also mention that the second line contains the code"L19T" followed
by the 2818 code. The 2818 code is actually "2818-1" or "2818-I". Does this
        add any info? Thanks.

          John -

The "-1" after the list number indicates a production change in the assembly since the original release. Assuming the configuration, finish, installation, metering block numbers, etc. are correct, you would only get a partial deduction (8 points or less) for the date code on the air horn.

            Re: C2 carb

            John:

The second line of your carb. actually reads "LIST 2818-1", not "L19T 2818-1". This designation signifies a design change, and superseded the 1st design 2818A sometime between Holley production dates, June and September 1964. Your air horn stampings line 1 and 2 are correct, but the date code, as Joe and John have said, signifies a service replacement.
The original primary metering body should have a "4094" stamp, without a "list" number. Secondary should read "4099"

            Joe.

              Re: C2 carb - Correction

Oops! The second line stamp on the air horn won't have an "R" on it - it will say "List 2818-1"; the "R" is a Holley prefix for the model number, but it doesn't appear on the air horn.
